Chapter 8
Justin eyed his brother and his newfound girlfriend. In all the years, he knew that his brother had never found love. And that was mostly because of him. Adam had always felt an obligation to him. The older brother had to take care of the younger one, at any cost.
It made the newly formed being happy to see his brother happy, if only for a short while had he been happy. Before all of this had happened, there had been only minor happiness. A little bit of comfort was found in each other. And now, there was still that comfort.
Unfortunately, it could not last. Not if the evil that existed had their way and the world was destroyed. Then no one would ever be happy again. All would be condemned to a life of pain and agony. And that was something Justin just could not allow to happen.
Adam walked over to his brother, the man that was still his brother. Was not exactly the young man that he had come to know and love, but was still his brother nonetheless. He had come to accept that fact. He had to.
“Justin?” The sandy blond young man turned to look at his brother. The eyes were weary. The eyes were full of confusion. They were full of questions. “Where is everyone? I mean, even that Kirk guy is gone. Gina wanted to make certain he was here at all times. And where is Susanna? Amanda is really worried about her sister.” Adam sighed heavily. “And so am I.”
“She is safe.” Justin shook his head. “And no, I can't tell where she is. I can only sense that she is all right. For now. As for the others, they are where they are needed. Before too long, all will come to be the way that it was supposed to be all along.”
Adam shook his head in an attempt to clear it. It had been days since he had slept. It seemed like it had been years since he had slept. So much had happened and in less than six months' time. It was really insane how fast things in life could change.
“I wish you didn't have to be so cryptic all the time.” Adam made his way to where Amanda slept restlessly on the couch. She had even less sleep now worrying about her sister. “I just want to know what is going on. Is that too much to ask?”
Justin could not contain himself. He started to laugh. Adam turned, anger plastered across his face. It was one of those looks that could kill. Odd from someone normally so peaceful and eager to please everyone else. “I'm sorry to laugh, truly I am. It's just that humans are so impatient. They do not realize that there is a time and a place for everything and that everything happens for a reason.”
“Enough with that!” Adam's raised voice startled Amanda from her restless sleep. She was panicked, looking around, fear etched across her face. It wasn’t until she saw her boyfriend’s face that she managed to relax.
